Windows: After downloading, double-click the file and then click "Run". A shortcut named "Passport 3" will appear on your desktop. Double-click it to open the activities.

Internet-based Activities

Unit 1: On the Streets
Activity: You are walking through Carnaby Street to go shopping. Select one category from the list on the left (clothing, accessories, department stores, gifts and toys, etc.) and then one shop from each category. Describe what route you are following (name the streets and the directions from one shop to the other) and every item you are going to buy from the shop. Finally, explain how much money you spent on your shopping spree.

Unit 2: Is It Real?
Activity: Go to the 'All About Mona" section and read Mona Lisa’s Celebrity Profile. Then, use the information provided to write a fictional interview with the Mona Lisa. Finally, go to the 'Mona Art' section, select three different 'images' and describe and compare each one. Which one is your favourite? Why? Which one is the funniest?

Unit 5: The World Around Us
Activity: Read the text about the Thai National Elephant Day. How were elephants used originally? What happened then? How are elephants treated nowadays? What kind of skills do they possess? Comment on their daily eating habits.

Unit 6: Fashion Fever
Activity: Calculate the following statistics.

  • Your height in feet
  • and inches
  • Your weight in pounds and stone
  • The area of your town (say the name) in square feet and acres
  • The price of a newspaper in pounds and pence
  • The capacity of a 13-litre water bottle in pints and quarts

Unit 7: Visions of the Future
Activity: Go to the 'Airport information' section and then to 'Security control'. Read the text about liquids and hand baggage controls. Do you think this is necessary? Why? Do you think people are afraid to travel by plane? What happened in the past that made people afraid? Are you afraid to fly? Finally, tell a personal story about an experience at an airport.

Unit 8: What’s So Funny?
Activity: Read the sections 'What are the health benefits of humour and laughter?', 'How does humour improve mental and emotional health?' and 'Why do we need humour to stay healthy emotionally?' According to you, why is it important to have good humour in life? Give examples from the articles above.

Unit 9: Sounds of Music
Activity: Choose one music style (rock, pop, R&B, hip-hop, rap, classical, country, electronic, etc.) and investigate the links. Write a short composition about its origins, characteristics, history, famous names, and the situation of this music style nowadays. Why do you think this style is relevant?
